The American Heart Association is recognizing employers who champion health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity and health in the work place. This recognition rewards company's for their progressive leadership and highlights their concern for their staff. It also encourages other companies to step up and demonstrate similar concern. In order to be recognized as a Start! Fit Friendly Company a company must have 25 or more employees and meet specific criteria such as opportunities around physical activity nutrition and promoting a healthy workplace culture and environment. An online application must be completed and sent to the American Heart Association. There are two deadlines per year that a company can apply: January or July. Start! Fit Friendly Companies will be announced at the Greater Mercer County Start! Heart Walk.
