CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

What do I have in common with Gene Rayburn and Charles Nelson Reilly?

I’m ready to play The Match Game!

If you were born after 1973, and aren’t a fan of vintage TV, you may be totally lost, but play along anyway.

Match the Chamber board member (column one) with the non-profit organization (column two) where he or she serves on the Board of Directors:

Board member    Non-profit Board
1. Rachel Stark   a. DARE NJ
2. Jeff Zeiger  b. Artworks
3. Marsha Stoltman     c. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County
4. Jayne O’Connor  d. Junior Achievement of NJ
5. Eugene Marsh  e. United Way of Greater Mercer County
6. Anna Lustenberg  f. Kidsbridge
7. Johnny Morris  g. Mercer County Community College Foundation
8. Sherise Ritter h. RWJ Hamilton Foundation
9. Tim Losch i. Passage Theatre
10. Don Tretola  j. Dress for Success
11. Anne LaBate  k. Jewish Community Center of Delaware Valley
12. Doug Zeltt  l. Trenton Public Education Foundation
  1. __ 2. __ 3. __ 4. __ 5. __ 6. __ 7.__ 8. __ 9. __ 10. __ 11. __ 12. __

The first three people to email me the 12 correct matches (jperlman@bordenperlman.com) will be featured in my next column, and announced at our next luncheon.

Playing The Match Game gives me the opportunity to tell you about the Chamber’s Board Match Program.  The goal of the Board Match Program is to link local not-for-profit organizations with qualified and motivated professionals interested in becoming involved in their community on a voluntary basis.
Playing The Match Game also gives me the chance to remind you what it truly means to “Get Connected. Get Results.’  It’s no coincidence that good things happen to good people.  People who are connected to their communities in positive ways know good deeds have a tendency of coming back to you.  They understand why businesses that are the most generous are also the most successful.

The Match Game was a pretty cool show in its time.  If we were to call many of the celebrities back together and ask them to pick up their pens and fill in the blank, they would probably say a VOLUNTEER is a person who ____________:

is aware of another's needs and does something about it
offers their time and talent selflessly
is a light to others

Our non-profit community organizations need volunteer leaders and supporters.  Please think about finding your match.  I bet you’ll soon agree that it is in giving that we receive.
